Jane Lombard Gallery

ABOUT

Jane Lombard Gallery, although (re)opened in 2015, has a rich 20 year history with an established reputation for bringing to the forefront artists who work within a global perspective / aesthetic relevant to the social and political climate of today. The gallery seeks to promote both emerging and mid career artists in a variety of media – painting, sculpture, photography, installation and film – in the US, Europe and Asia, including new artists we have recently introduced to our program. Formerly Lombard Freid Projects, founded in 1995 in Soho, the gallery later moved to Chelsea, first to 26th Street and then to its current ground floor location on 19th Street in 2010.

OPPORTUNITY

In 2015, Jane Lombard Gallery underwent a change in structure, name, and location. Around the same time, the gallery also noticed that its artists weren’t receiving thoughtful coverage of their shows. So, in 2019, they called on A&O PR to revamp their communications and PR strategy.

SOLUTION

A&O PR developed a robust traditional fine art PR strategy to enhance the messaging of their artists and exhibitions, provide necessary strategic thinking and external comms support, reaching art critics and writers through social media, pitching and events. In 2020, A&O PR helped guide Jane Lombard Gallery with its pandemic-era digital pivot.

RESULTS

Since our engagement, the gallery has received press in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Artnet, Hyperallergic, and Art & Object. Most recently, A&O simultaneously brought exposure to two of the gallery’s most illustrious artists amid competing art fair timelines. We created two bespoke campaigns and distinct yet complementary strategies, which resulted in a boom in awareness, allowing the public to more meaningfully engage with the gallery’s impressive roster of groundbreaking artists. In 2023 alone, A&O PR’s efforts garnered 44 distinct pieces of press coverage, reaching an estimated readership of 400M.
