(e)merge

Washington, DC
Art Fair
March 2013 – October 2013

About

The brainchild of Washington, D.C. gallerists Leigh Conner and Jamie Smith, (e)merge art fair connects emerging art professionals from around the globe with collectors, curators, and cultural decision makers from around the nation’s capital. (e)merge is one of the leading art fairs in the Mid-Atlantic area, and the only art fair in the nation to offer free space to unrepresented artists.

Challenge

Now entering their third year of operation, (e)merge is one of A&O’s newer engagements. Our challenge with them is to draw attention to a boutique art fair situated in a young, hip art scene, and develop a long-term narrative of its development and growth, without relying too much on the short-term novelty of seeing contemporary art outside the reins of well-established cities like New York or Los Angeles.

Solution

In addition to developing a comprehensive social media strategy for (e)merge and offering plans for event management, we have been providing extensive consultation on marketing and media purchases. A&O’s goal in our collaboration with (e)merge was to boost local and national awareness of the art fair, laying the groundwork to improve Washington, D.C.’s standing as an international contemporary art destination and place (e)merge at the center of that conversation.
