Art Opening – Danny First – Maloney Fine Arts
Danny First’s sculptures in his solo exhibit Peaceful Solitude have an awesome sense of humor about them. So, when I walked into Maloney Fine Arts during the opening reception and saw his stoic faces lined up with objects on their heads, I instantly formed a humongous smile on my face. But, what’s most impressive about Danny is his versatility as an artist – since in addition to the faces inside the gallery, he also had several wonderfully witty park benches outside with things inscribed on them like “On Hold For A Bigger Collector Than You” and “Please Wait To Be Seated” – which, I for one, would love to see out in public as opposed to the boring bus stops and park benches dedicated to people who probably never sat on them. FUN FACT: Danny First is also the creator of a wonderful children’s illustration and clothing series featuring his characters Danny & Sally.
