Studio Visit – Daniel Payavis
Daniel Payavis works on a bunch of cool series at the same time in his studio in downtown Los Angeles. For example, he has huge canvasses featuring hundreds of painted faces layered on top of one another that’s next to a completely different body of work where he’s made digital prints of images manipulated on flatbed scanners. Daniel received his MFA from The University of Texas at Austin, where in addition to focusing on his practice he was also able to teach himself the precise art of frame making. It’s really awesome to see Daniel’s work in person, especially when you can see his huge canvasses juxtaposed next to his smaller studies.
