Studio Visit – Daniel Lane
Daniel Lane had to build several of his own tools to help him create his work – including a styrofoam cutter that incorporates a flashlight’s electronic circuity. He just recently received his MFA from The University of Austin, TX and so some of his larger canvasses were rolled up to accommodate the 1,300 mile move to Los Angeles. However, when he unrolled them, a bright life of space was revealed featuring visions of the future. Daniel is fascinated by a certain shade of green which he has been using in a recent piece where he is recreating the look of a vinyl sign on canvass. And I’m really psyched to see the plastic pop-out piece of a satellite dish when it’s complete.
