Chalk LA, an art gallery in Los Angeles [towards the beach] is also the LA base for the non-profit organization Canlove – who take in expired spray paint cans and turn them into works of art. They cut open up the finished cans [usually made up of either tinplate or aluminum] and flatten them out create shapes like hearts and walls of gradients. It’s not only great to see that street artists finally have a decent place to recycle their cans, but also that there are artists here in the US figuring out ways to repurpose and reuse what would otherwise be piling up high in a landfill. And as of now you can either donate your empty cans to canlove’s affiliates in LA or NY, so please see the link below for more details.
