Art Opening – PLUSH – Home Room Gallery
Walt Gorecki of Home Room Gallery hand-sewed felt all along the walls and ceilings of the space to really embody the spirit of his latest show “PLUSH” in which a 11 artists were asked to create soft sculptures. The opening turned out to be a wild affair complete with deviled eggs and LA’s jet set of interesting characters. And at least two of the pieces were interactive, including a genetically modified corn puppet you could play with and a pair of quilted headphones you could wear. Then, in a recessed area of one of the walls were all these stuffed animals named Lovecats lounging about – the best of which was sitting on the gallery’s front desk. Many of the artists picked to be part of the show are actually animators and creature creators, including Eri Hawkins who helped work on the hilarious TV show Warren The Ape, which sadly is no more.
