Elisabeth Higgins O’Connor – Charlie James Gallery
Elisabeth Higgins O’Connor takes other people’s scraps and turns them into fantastic creatures. Most of her sculptures easily tower over a human and seem eerily alive. In fact, I kept checking to make sure they weren’t breathing – even though it would’ve been cool if they were. I loved the works, but didn’t truly appreciate her insane skill until I saw a massive pile of all the materials she uses to build her sculptures hidden in a nook of the gallery – I mean you try taking all those pieces and turning them into something! You can check out Elisabeth Higgins O’Connor’s installation Dreadful Sorry Clementine at Charlie James Gallery until December 17th, 2011.
