Art Opening – Paul Insect – Post No Bills
Paul Insect had the opening of his show, Triptease Revue, at Post No Bills on November 3rd, 2011. When you walked into the gallery, you were greeted on your left by Insect’s series of faces, which had me cracking up from their English expressions. Then, on the other side of the space, were works that reminded me of Patrick Nagel paintings – except with creepy monster hands attacking the girls, instead of an inescapable 80′s datedness. Paul Insect also built an installation in the center of the room comprised of a box with a little peep hole you could look into. Inside, a video was playing which alternated between a porno and still photographs of a bug. Some of my favorite pieces in the show were the $25 sticker sheets that were available as well as a set of X-Ray Spex posters that were printed onto a shiny silver paper.

This piece was actually printed on a reflective silver paper so all the colors are way more vibrant than they appear in this picture
