Installation – SKEE.TV building on Cahuenga
This street-art installation on Cahuenga in Hollywood was created by Aaron Axelrod as a commission by Dj Skee. The title of the work is “Greatness Doesn’t Ask Permission” and it was painted onto the front of the KIIS-FM Dj’s building where he films all of his popular webisodes. The work features a bunch of mannequin hoodlums who are splashing a rainbow of dripping graffiti onto the building, which is kind of neat because most of Axelrod’s other art falls into the fine-art category and has nothing to do with vandalism. There were green lasers in the entrance-way when the work was unveiled in August, but they have since been removed. If you want to know what it was like while they were painting the mural from both sides of the fence, I found this angry rant by a neighbor and provided a link to an interview with the artist below.
