Downtown Art Walk – October 13th, 2011
The October installment of the downtown art walk was extra spicy. A swarm of people ran out of the gallery on Spring and 4th coughing because someone let off a mist of pepper spray inside. By chance, we discovered who the culprits were after overhearing them talk about it on the street – they were a couple that painted their faces like day of the dead skulls. Once our throats stopped stinging from the mace residue, we walked down to where the pop-up galleries usually are at 4th and main, but unfortunately due to the city raising permit costs, they weren’t going on. With all that drama out of the way, it was great to to see Vannesa Bonet’s hippo performance again – especially since I discovered through her friends that she was also behind the waiting room installation at The Brewery. I guess it was all a bit too fitting that the art walk closest to Halloween was haunted.
