Mikey Wax Does It Differently
Mikey Wax, an awesome songwriter from New York, is trying something different with his upcoming album Constant Motion – he’s giving part of it away. It’s a risky new strategy, but it’s working. They are already close to selling out of the various preorder packages available and the official drop of the album is still a month away. Part of the reason the strategy is succeeding so well is that fans are required to do one of three things in order to obtain the tracks; either tweet or leave a note on their Facebook wall about them, or join the email list. But an experiments like this in the dawn of the Social Media Age is nothing new for Wax and co.; they’ve already managed to circumvent venues (and their headaches) by playing packed house shows all across the country to adoring fans – something that would’ve been impossible ten years ago. I’ve already heard an advanced copy of the record and can sincerely say it’s great!
