Interview with TLFI’s Mascot – Reggie The Koala
Reggie the Koala, TLFI’s mascot, greeted me at the door of his LA pad with an uzi in one hand and some eucalyptus in the other. He offered me some of his plant and I got high from a single chew. In my dazed stupor, I forced Reggie to take me to the local strip club after our interview, but as soon as the first hairy marsupial took off her clothes and revealed that she had two lateral vaginas I passed out. I can’t remember what happened next, but I woke up with a tattoo that said In Love With A Lifestyle I Can’t Afford across my face.
Daniel Rolnik: When and how did you discover TLFI?
Reggie: They discovered me. Without me, there is no TLFI.
DR: What’s it like being their mascot? Do you get more Koala tail now?
R: C’mon man, I was getting mad Koala butt before TLFI. Now I’m into marmosets, those furry lil’ fuckers are hot.
DR: We know you rock an Uzi in the streets, but what weapons do you keep at home
R: I keep it traditional. A bat, axes, Mossberg pistol with a grip pump, S&W 357 snub nose…your basic hater repellants.
DR: What kind of gang initiation did you have to go through to join the Get Busy Committee?
R: It consisted mostly of partying. I had to hang with Ryu and Scoop for a week and match them drink for drink and smoke for smoke. I also had to do some vandalism, make prank phone calls, steal a small car, punch a bus driver, and eat Korean BBQ.
DR: What’s your favorite Get Busy Committee lyric?
R: Every lyric they’ve ever spit.
DR: Before you moved to Hollywood as a young joey, what was the craziest thing you saw go down in Venice Beach?
R: Rollerblading and surfing crips, boardwalk riots, a dead body, Harry Perry, Breakwater Locals, Shootouts’ AWR and MSK productions at the old pavilion yard, drugs, bootleg sunglasses, and Rastas everywhere.
DR: Who is your favorite foreign film director?
R: George Miller [Mad Max // Babe: Pig In The City // Happy Feet // The Witches of Eastwick]
DR: Have you ever OD’d on Eucalyptus? What’s your favorite strain?
R: All the time. My favorite is Triple OG Columbian werewolf / frozen moth hybrid.
DR: Do you ever visit the zoo to see your incarcerated buds? What are some of them in there for?
R: Stupid shit…See question 4.
DR: What are 3 of your favorite pieces in the upcoming TLFI collection?
R: Lo Life, it’s me painted like the classic Ralph Lauren Teddy bear – I got a lotta’ respect for that dude. Dabs and Myla tees, and the “Fuck you very Much” needlepoint joint.
DR: A lot of people think you’re actually Alex 2tone in disguise, how can you dispel this myth?
R: I could shoot him in the leg.
